Colin is responsible for the creative direction of BBC Future Media's Online User Experience. His team delivers and executes the design for user experiences over all of the BBC's digital media services including BBC Online, BBC Red Button and BBC iPlayer.
The BBC websites – http://bbc.co.uk and http://bbc.com - achieved record global traffic in January 2013, with 64 million visitors worldwide accessing entertainment, news, sport, weather, learning and lifestyle content.
Prior to his current role, Colin spent 15 years at IDEO – the international innovation consultancy, famous for its user-centred, interdisciplinary approach. During this time, Colin worked in the UK, US and Europe and held various positions, including as Managing Director of IDEO London.
Colin is a pioneer in Transformation Design, a methodology that harnesses user-led creativity to create new strategic business and social value. He has worked with clients in the public and private sectors, including Vodafone, Procter & Gamble, Egg, British Airways, the NHS, Nokia, the BBC and the Design Council. He was a founding director of the public service transformation agency, Participle.
Colin is a visiting Professor at both Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art in Dundee University and Glasgow School of Art.
